A Note About Kim

Kim is from Louisville, Kentucky.  She is the daughter of Patty and Jerry King and has a sister, Kristen.  She attended Assumption High School and then went on to achieve a full volleyball scholarship to Xavier University where she earned her BA in Advertising.  She married Mike Andriole in 2000 and they have two children.

Professionally, she climbed the corporate ladder in the marketing and advertising arena beginning as an Account Coordinator at an ad agency and finally earning a position as Marketing Director.  She also worked in the pharmaceutical industry where she earned top sales awards and was promoted several times.

In sports, the story is very similar.  She began at the bottom and worked her way up.  She always says she was never the most naturally gifted athlete; but, she was the one who worked the hardest.  At Xavier, much to her dismay, she was benched her freshman year.  Although she was receiving a full scholarship, she was still not satisfied – she was not playing to her full potential and “earning her keep”.  She wanted to give her coach what he had paid for.  She worked extremely hard and ended up earning various Player of the Week awards, a starting position, Captain of the team, All Conference Team and broke the Season Kill Record. Throughout her life, she has continued to set athletic challenges for herself. She has a passion for competing, living life, inspiring others and proving that the human mind has no limits.

She has run numerous marathons, completed the Louisville Ironman in 2009 and just recently completed a 56 mile cross-country trail run from London to Brighton.

Throughout all of the roads to achieving her goals, she always faced ups and downs. Overcoming  challenges -- being placed on not the best teams, not playing   in a game, making a mistake in a job, deaths in the family, injuries, and even being diagnosed with cancer in 1999 -- is what has made her who she is today.

She and her family lived in England for two years for her husband’s job. They just moved back to the States this summer and now reside in Louisville, Kentucky. Kim is currently working on raising her two children as well as the birth of Shine On. She truly believes that the power of the human mind and spirit is boundless.
